The Mind is the Limit

For the past 12 years I have read and researched thousands upon thousands of pages relating to the human mind. From the ancient Greek philosophers such as Plato and Aristotle to some of the more modern day thinkers such as Wundt, James, Frankl, Ellis, Beck and Erickson. What I have found and believe is that if you can tap into the power of your mind you can achieve expert performance levels in your sport, business or your academic adventures. For one reason or another people tend to engage in negative thinking patterns from making generalisations to blaming others and the world at large for our misfortunes.

They let their minds control them rather than taking control of their minds. Instead of taking control of their lives, people often play the blame game. Psychologists call this the “victim mentality” and this leads to “Learned Helplessness”. This human phenomenon called “learned helplessness” causes people to be passive and helpless. They find themselves in situations they can’t do anything about. Eventually they give up trying altogether. They maintain a fixed mindset and believe it’s not their fault. “This is the way I am and this is the way I always have been.” Not realising that they could actually change if they changed the way they think and made a little effort. But with “learned helplessness”, they don’t even bother to try.

The great news is that, if you feel helpless and are not satisfied with your life or you feel like you are not reaching your true potential, you can change by changing the way you think. I can teach and show you:

  1. How the brain works and share with you ideas and techniques to fulfil your true potential
  2. How to identify and change limiting beliefs
  3. How to become aware of negative thinking patterns
  4. How to commit to excellence and perform more effectively and efficiently
  5. How to achieve and comprehend things you always thought were beyond your reach

I can show you this and more. I have been there and understand the vulnerabilities people and athletes feel. I have witnessed “learned helplessness” at first hand. I know what it is like to feel inferior and I understand what it is like to have talent and not utilise it. Nothing excites me more than helping and teaching people how to break through their misconception by applying the psychological strategies and ideas that I share. These strategies will help you create real results in your life and sporting career. Discover the real you. It is you that holds the key to unlock your true potential.

My Philosophy

Whether its life, business or sport, you may be on the right track but if you just sit there you’re going to get run over. Never remain static and content. Keep moving in the direction of your goals and dreams. That’s what fuels our desires and motivations.

A lot of people stroll through life, they are spectators and their lives are determined by the environment around them. If you want to achieve something in life you have to start participating and stop been a spectator. Most people know exactly what to do but few people do what they know. Simply, we can change our lives by changing the way we think.

Here are four simple ingredients to help you achieve what you want:

  •  Know exactly where you are going and what you want.

Start with the end in mind. Have a strategy in place and set long term realistic goals. Within these long term goals have short term goals. The short term goals are the stepping stones towards achieving what you set out to achieve. If you don't know where you are going you will most definitely end up somewhere else.

  • You have to really want to go there.

Is this really what you want? Do you have the motivation, determination and desire to pursue this everyday of your life? Is it something that you are going to enjoy and really love getting out of bed for in the morning? But knowing where you want to go in life and wanting to go there sometimes is not enough. Millions of people know the answer to these questions but hold back because of their Self-Limiting-Beliefs.

  • Belief - Believe you can go there.

The size of your belief will determine the size of your success. The power and strength of our beliefs are what usually determine whether we chase our dreams or simply give up. It is your beliefs that will determine your attitude and your attitude will determine if you succeed or not.

  • Put a plan in place and go the right way about achieving what you want.

If the first three steps are in place it will allow you to focus your energy on building a game plan. Gather all the resources you need to help you achieve what you want to achieve and put a strategy in place. Not a to-do list of what you want to accomplish but a strategy. Remember a to-do list can be written in any order but a strategy is written in a sequential and logical order. The strategy will give you focus. Remember to act accordingly also. Change and adapt all the time. If what you are doing is not working then do something else. Adjust your strategy but don’t give up.

Tap Into Your Higher-Self

We are only part of what people perceive or see us to be. There is a “force,” a higher force that makes us what we really are. That force is guided by our inner-thoughts. I really believe that our thoughts serve us either for good or bad. To put it simple, our thoughts become things. Our thoughts produce results that are objective to others and subjective to us.

The secret is in knowing that we don’t have to accept standards that are set out for us by others. We are not our parents or our parent’s beliefs. We can be what we wish to be by changing our mental scripts and mindsets. To discover our real-self we must tap into our higher-self. We can create a positive force that will propel us towards our real-self.

What fuels this force? Positive, realistic thoughts fuel this force. Our mind or spirit, call it what you wish is what creates this natural force. Our thoughts maybe invisible but they create visible tangible outcomes. Any outcomes, good or bad, that you have produced to date are a result of your thinking. So, if you are not producing the results you want you may need to change your thought process.

You and only you can control your own thoughts and behaviour. Our thoughts do not control us. And once you can comprehend this you can awaken the giant that lays waiting within you. Inside each and every one of us lies this “force”. All you need to do is open your mind to it. Let’s take the seed of a tree for example. The seed is useless unless it is planted in the earth’s soil. Once the seed is planted (you open your mind to new ideas) a force and energy will help it flourish and grow. Without the right care, nourishment and energy it will eventually decay and die.

There is so much more to us than just our physical bodies. It’s the mind-body connection that makes you what you really are. The strength and real power within you does not come from the combination of muscles. The real power that lies within all of us comes from a more powerful source known as the MIND. The mind may be invisible like the wind but it’s as real as the wind. The mind is as real as earth, wind, fire and water and creates a force that is equally as powerful.
